I'm a nurse at the local hospital and With a population of 7,057, Lake Murray of Richland is a small town. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Is this normal for Lake Murray of Richland? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much stable but now it's tough.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a data analyst, 31, moved here 15 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Highland and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The outdoor recreation situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for couples. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely improving and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Riverside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor recreation is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to Nashville it's pretty good.

Bought a house here in 2020 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
