Hello, My partner and I are Household incomes average around $71,157 in Lake Odessa. The unemployment rate is 4.2%, which is about average. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Moved here from Austin about 1 years ago. it's been a really good experience overall. Still getting used to cost of living but Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Came here for school and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The healthcare is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Portland about 2 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is underrated.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
