First post here. Homes are going for about $639,400 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in The Heights for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The nightlife scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely excellent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Diego about 14 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..
