Lake of the Woods in the winter -how bad?

Hey folks, I've been here for 4 years and Rent is about $1,690/month for a decent place. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Would love some local perspective.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from New York about 8 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
