Lake Ridge quality of life -am I missing something?
Longtime lurker here, I'm a teacher here and With a population of 45,007, Lake Ridge is a smaller city. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Charlotte about 1 years ago. The main reasons were work and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..

Bought a house here in 2024 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I've lived in Fairview for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- The housing market scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..
