What Lake Secession does better than anywhere else
Been meaning to ask this. I'm retired and Median household income is $46,933, which feels on the lower side for the area. With a population of 1,209, Lake Secession is a small town. Poverty rate is 7.6%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Anyone in a similar situation? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a marketing manager who relocated here from LA about 1 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.
Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
