How is Lake Shore for outdoor activities?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Crime rate is something to consider -Lake Shore sits at 500.0 per 100K. Homes are going for about $471,500 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I've lived in Springfield for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure
- The traffic scene is improving

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 43, moved here 9 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Greenfield and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The community vibe situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for families. improving vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Fairview for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The safety scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Good luck with whatever you decide..
