Quick question about Lake St. Louis

Curious what people think. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Homes are going for about $375,300 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Lake St. Louis sits at 133.8 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Anyone in a similar situation? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 12 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in education. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
