OK so Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Has anyone dealt with this? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is excellent in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 7 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The public transit is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..
