Lakehills job market vs Seattle

Hey, I've been here for 19 years and Homes are going for about $242,000 on average. With a population of 5,872, Lakehills is a small town. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. Worth the trade-offs? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Houston about 6 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 2 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is tough.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Definitely worth checking out..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
