Biggest downsides of living in Lakeland?

Hey folks, I'm a remote worker and You can expect to pay around $1,299 for rent here. Median household income is $60,947, which feels about average for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Should I be concerned? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 10 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.
