First post here. Poverty rate is 10.6%, which is around average. Household incomes average around $60,947 in Lakeland. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What do you all think? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Baltimore about 10 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is tough.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
