Alright, I grew up here but left for a while. The median home value here is around $357,700, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,644 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

I've lived in North for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community
- The walkability scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 1 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 8 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Hot take but it's not perfect but it works for me. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much stable but now it's average.

Came here for work and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The walkability is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 37, moved here 14 years ago from Austin. I've lived in West and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Nice parks and green spaces
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The traffic situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for young professionals. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
