Job hunting in Lakeland -tips?

Hello, It's a a small town city with about 14,068 people. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Worth the trade-offs? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely solid and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Uptown) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Downtown for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- The traffic scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The nightlife is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

- Close to major attractions
- The dating scene scene is average

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- The pet-friendliness scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..
