Remote worker thinking about Lakeshore Gardens-Hidden Acres
Anyone else feel this way? It's a a small town city with about 1,020 people. Poverty rate is 6.6%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Any advice would be great. TIA! It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely hit or miss and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a HR manager and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
