Living in Lakeside -the reality

First post here. My partner and I are Median household income is $80,686, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. Rent is about $1,384/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $249,300 on average. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Let me know your thoughts. Appreciate any input. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Highland. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
