Lakeview is underrated, change my mind

Alright, Military spouse here. The median home value here is around $162,300, which is actually reasonable. Household incomes average around $56,208 in Lakeview. Rent is about $985/month for a decent place. With a population of 4,760, Lakeview is a small town. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 47, moved here 2 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Westside and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The cost of living situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for retirees. decent vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $80K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
