Not sure if this has been asked before, but My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider -Lakeville sits at 67.0 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Any advice would be great. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 10 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

I've lived in Eastside for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Raleigh, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- The pet-friendliness scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in The Heights for 11 years. Moved from Nashville for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
government is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is improving - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Far from beaches/mountains. And public transit can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 5/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much wild but now it's tough.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The job market scene is tough
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
