The good and bad of living in Lakeville

First post here. Military spouse here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Has anyone dealt with this?

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much affordable but now it's challenging.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I've lived in Riverside for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- The walkability scene is decent

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- The pet-friendliness scene is tough

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 3 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Dating scene is rough. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 9 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The weather is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
