There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What neighborhoods would you suggest? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Midtown. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in retail. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in North for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- The walkability scene is tough
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.
