Best restaurants in Lakewood?

So, I relocated for work and Median household income is $116,794, which feels pretty solid for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation?

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
- The cost of living scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (East) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 31, moved here 15 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Fairview and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The safety situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $100K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
