Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider — Lakewood sits at 480.3 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. The suburbs are where most families end up. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Should I be concerned? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Maple Ridge for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by cultural scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
- The cost of living scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.
