Lakewood quality of life -am I missing something?

Hey folks, Household incomes average around $70,962 in Lakewood. It's a a small town city with about 2,975 people. Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Good job market
- Active local events

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Limited dining options
- Boring for young people
- Far from major airports
Any advice would be great. Appreciate any input. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. As someone who grew up here, it's improved dramatically in recent years. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much growing but now it's better than expected.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely challenging and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Riverside) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
