Anyone else feel this way? I'm retired and Homes are going for about $241,500 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,013 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Am I overthinking this? Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'm a accountant who relocated here from Seattle about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is tough.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. No regrets on my end..

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is solid.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Definitely worth checking out..

Background: I'm a HR manager, 32, moved here 3 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Downtown and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Affordable housing options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The nightlife situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for couples. solid vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
