Living in Lakewood -the reality

Hey, My family moved here when I was a kid. With a population of 50,229, Lakewood is a smaller city. Median household income is $65,925, which feels about average for the area. Poverty rate is 6.1%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $65,925 in Lakewood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Am I overthinking this? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I work in manufacturing here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is pretty good. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Baltimore about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
