Moving to Lakewood -what should I know?

First post here. Poverty rate is 6.1%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Does this match your experience?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Dallas about 4 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Hope this helps!.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but I love the pace of life here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 5 years here, that's my honest assessment.
