Should I move to Lakewood or stay in San Diego?

Poverty rate is 6.1%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Lakewood sits at 122.5 per 100K. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Any advice would be great. Thanks for reading. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely excellent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
