Anyone regret moving to Lakewood Ranch?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but We have two kids and The median home value here is around $626,500, which is pretty steep. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What are your go-to spots? The weather takes some getting used to.

I'm a teacher and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much reasonable but now it's better than expected.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is healthcare. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Old Town area are excellent. Kids love it here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 26, moved here 4 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Westside and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Low crime in most neighborhoods
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The community vibe situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
It's not for everyone but it works for us.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
