Is Lakewood Ranch worth it salary-wise?

Hey folks, Rent is about $2,213/month for a decent place. Median household income is $123,471, which feels pretty solid for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Let me know your thoughts. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is improving in most areas.

I've lived in The Heights for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- The safety scene is decent

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 12 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Chain restaurants dominate. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much wild but now it's underrated.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Nashville about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is decent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great Southern places. I have mixed feelings honestly.
