Studio apartments in Lakewood -options?

Hey everyone, I relocated for work and Rent is about $1,460/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Lakewood sits at 756.8 per 100K. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. What do you all think? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is challenging in most areas.

I work in engineering here and it's exactly what I was looking for. The job market for my field is pretty good. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 3 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into running, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 53, moved here 10 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Oak Park and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The housing market situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Oak Park: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The cultural scene scene is tough

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.
