Top 5 things I love about Lakewood

Hey everyone, The median home value here is around $420,500, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $1,460/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,460 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thoughts? Appreciate any input. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to New York it's challenging.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Atlanta about 4 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is solid.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
