Housing market in Lamesa right now

Born and raised here. With a population of 8,527, Lamesa is a small town. Median household income is $50,533, which feels on the lower side for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Lamesa sits at 822.5 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What are your go-to spots? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Nashville about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is tough in most areas.
