Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it was the best decision I ever made. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much manageable but now it's decent.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Boston about 5 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.
