Living in Lampasas -the reality

Hey everyone, We have two kids and Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. Homes are going for about $197,000 on average. It's a a small town city with about 7,506 people. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Does this match your experience? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 9 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Lakewood. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in legal. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
