Lancaster is underrated, change my mind

Random thought, Household incomes average around $76,083 in Lancaster. The unemployment rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What are your go-to spots?

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much reasonable but now it's surprisingly good.

The food scene here is solid. Tons of great Southern places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is average in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Portland, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
