Anyone else feel this way? I relocated for work and Rent is about $839/month for a decent place. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Would love some local perspective.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Moved here from Atlanta about 14 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to nightlife but Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2018 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The public transit scene is tough
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 7 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
