Been living here since 2012. Rent is about $1,177/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 17.7%, which is higher than I expected. Median household income is $63,421, which feels about average for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What do you all think? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is excellent in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 7 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- The community vibe scene is improving
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.
