What's it really like living in Lancaster?

First post here. I'm a teacher here and It's a a smaller city city with about 57,683 people. Poverty rate is 17.7%, which is higher than I expected. Homes are going for about $203,700 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,177 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Fairview area are underrated. Kids love it here.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The cultural scene is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've lived in Uptown for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The safety scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
