Moving to Lancaster with kids -good idea?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm retired and Household incomes average around $67,584 in Lancaster. Average temperature is around 66--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 40,753, Lancaster is a smaller city. Rent is about $1,627/month for a decent place. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Would love some local perspective. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Came here for family and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The traffic is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

I've lived in Fairview for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- The cultural scene scene is solid

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..
