Is Landover walkable?

Curious what people think. I'm originally from San Diego and With a population of 24,558, Landover is a small town. Homes are going for about $301,400 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What are your go-to spots? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from San Francisco about 9 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The traffic is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 6 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.
