Top 5 things I love about Lansdowne

First post here. Born and raised here. Median household income is $72,845, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $1,298 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Looking forward to hearing from you all. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. I love the pace of life here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value community vibe, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely average and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Downtown. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in retail. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

No regrets on my end..
