I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Seattle about 12 years ago. The main reasons were work and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is tough.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in West for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Active local events and festivals
- The pet-friendliness scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
