Hey, I grew up here but left for a while. The median home value here is around $168,500, which is actually reasonable. Homes are going for about $168,500 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 5 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Boston about 1 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is tough.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 12 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Meadowbrook area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

I've lived in Riverside for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The dating scene scene is tough
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
