Housing in Lansing compared to Dallas

My partner and I are Household incomes average around $71,805 in Lansing. You can expect to pay around $1,271 for rent here. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Is this normal for Lansing? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development.

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great BBQ places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 7 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the West side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if cost of living matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
