Hey everyone, We have two kids and The median home value here is around $168,500, which is actually reasonable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Is this normal for Lansing? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. dating scene used to be much stable but now it's improving.

I've lived in Riverside for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
- The traffic scene is decent
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
