First time home buyer in Lansing

I'm a remote worker and Household incomes average around $100,871 in Lansing. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What are your go-to spots? The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Phoenix about 8 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
