How is Lansing for outdoor activities?

Random thought, I'm single, late 50s, and Rent is about $1,163/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $100,871 in Lansing. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Does this match your experience? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in construction. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like seafood.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
