Lillian Harris moving

Just moved to Lantana, any tips?

Alright, Average temperature is around 76--F, so it's warm year-round. It's a a small town city with about 11,845 people. With a population of 11,845, Lantana is a small town. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Would love some local perspective. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Bought a house here in 2019 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

We moved here with our family and I have mixed feelings honestly. Schools in Eastside area are decent. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 11 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in education. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Westside for 15 years. Moved from Raleigh for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Far from beaches/mountains. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
