Best things about Laredo that nobody talks about

As a 13-year resident, here are some things about Laredo that don't make it into the guides:

1. There are amazing hiking trails 20 min from downtown
2. Community events happen almost every weekend
3. Cost of living is way better than people think

Give it a chance if you're considering it!

Coming from Philadelphia, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are slightly more expensive but housing makes up for it.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 9/10.

The job market has been improving lately. Several education companies moved in recently.

Rent tip: look for places in January-February. Prices drop and there's more availability.

I've lived in Midtown for 13 years and it's still one of the best decisions I made.
