Couple moving to Largo from out of state

With a population of 82,506, Largo is a smaller city. Homes are going for about $208,500 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Would love some local perspective. Any help is appreciated. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Downtown for 5 years. Moved from Boston for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Downtown schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Limited shopping options. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is average in most areas.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 27, moved here 14 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Meadowbrook and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Active local events and festivals
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The cultural scene situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for families. average vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 14 years ago. The main reasons were school and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is challenging.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
- The walkability scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- The outdoor recreation scene is improving

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- The public transit scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much affordable but now it's average.
